Our Story & Life

Andrew & Izzy met at a picnic date at Logan Square in Washington, DC.

At first, Izzy was most interested in stealing the cat Andrew was keeping for a friend. However, Andrew passed the initial “spicy tolerance” test by enjoying a spicy Thai dish. He also won extra bonus points by actually knowing where Chengdu was on a map - and knowing more about her hometown than just “where the pandas are.”

Izzy was witty, multi-faceted (a musician in law school), stylish, and light-hearted in a way that was very rare for DC.

The Trip

A last-minute canceled trip to China became the foundation of a deeper relationship between Andrew & Izzy. Since Izzy couldn’t go home, they took a spontaneous camping trip to Hawaii - where they camped on beaches, met amazing people, surfed (poorly), and enjoyed the wonders of Kauai.

Life in DC

In DC, Izzy & Andrew lived an active life full of friends, rock climbing, food, & (unfortunately for Izzy) a lot of studying law.

A few of our favorite spots included a basement bar with a nice (and generally available) pool table, Korean restaurants in northern Virginia, and ceviche from a Peruvian restaurant in downtown DC.

** As you can see in the photos, Andrew got pretty good at dyeing Izzy’s hair.

Moving to NYC

Izzy got an offer from Paul, Weiss - one of the largest law firms in NYC. After passing the bar exam in the summer of 2022, Andrew & Izzy biked around New York for a whole week of apartment searching. Each night, Izzy was most excited about a restaurant in the East Village. After the fourth night, the decision was clear. East Village was the neighborhood for us.

Andrew and his dad Jon packed Izzy up and moved her into her apartment on the 5th floor of a walk-up. This was quite the introduction to NYC for Jon - who was pretty sure he was tricked into this labor.

Andrew travelled back and forth from DC to NYC - while Izzy toiled away through her first year in corporate law.

Together in NYC

In April of 2023, Andrew and Izzy made a whole bunch of life-changing decisions. Izzy’s best friend Vania was their witness at their NYC City Hall Wedding. They found a new place in East Village with enough light for both of their (kind of insane) amount of plants. They now enjoy their life filled with houseplants; El (their cat); Muay Thai boxing; tango; mysore yoga; and NYC food.
